Phelps Fan, Inc. was founded in 1915 by Frank Phelps and his son Morton F. Phelps. They began in business making fans for the cotton gins. In the early thirties, the company responded to a strong demand by adding Southern Forest Products producers to their targeted customer list. As the cotton gin manufacturers began to make their own fans, Phelps Fan, Inc. more and more catered to the needs of saw mills. Thus wood product producers were the main source of business for the company until the early seventies. Today, Phelps Fan specializes in fans and blowers for industrial producers involved in the following fields: chemical, paper, metal, agricultural producers, glass, rubber and even nuclear waste incineration.
