The Native American Agriculture Fund (NAAF) is a private charitable trust created from the settlement of the Keepseagle v. Vilsack lawsuit, which addressed discrimination against Native farmers and ranchers by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. NAAF’s mission is to empower Native and rural communities by providing knowledge, resources, and support for sustainable agricultural practices and economic development, guided by the principle of “healthy lands, healthy people, healthy economies.”
NAAF primarily offers grants to nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, tribal governments, and community development financial institutions. These grants support business assistance, agricultural education, technical support, and advocacy services for Native American farmers, ranchers, fishers, and Tribal nations. The fund also shares financial resources to improve access to capital and financial literacy for Native agricultural producers.
